BERTIE Brayley admits friendship will go out of the window when his Burnham Ramblers side take on neighbours Maldon and Tiptree today.

The Ramblers boss will be in the opposing dugout to Maldon boss Alan Kimble and his assistant Anwar Uddin when the two clubs square up at Park Drive (kick-off 3pm).

Brayley knows Kimble from his time on loan at Heybridge Swifts and played alongside Uddin when West Ham United won the FA Youth Cup, in 1999.

Brayley says he is looking forward to catching up with his two friends once the Ryman League division one north clash is over.

However, he insists there will only be one thing on his mind when he sends his rock-bottom Ramblers side into battle – securing three vital points.

Brayley said: “I’m looking forward to pitting my wits against them. “Alan was on the staff at Heybridge when I was there on loan.

“He’s a good football man and on and off the pitch, he’s a good bloke.

“I knew Anwar Uddin at West Ham and we won the FA Youth Cup when we were there.

“I’ve known him since he was 13 and we came through the ranks at West Ham together.

“We’re friends off the pitch but when we cross that white line, that goes out of the window.

“It’s a derby match for us – we both need the points and it’s very tight.”

Burnham are also in action on Saturday when they host Waltham Abbey at Leslie Field (kick-off 3pm).
