MALDON and Tiptree boss Alan Kimble is urging his players to avoid a banana skin in today's derby against Burnham Ramblers.

The neighbours are set to do battle in a Ryman League division one north showdown at Park Drive (kick-off 3pm).

It will be the Jammers’ second festive derby, following their 1-1 draw at Heybridge Swifts on Boxing Day.

And Kimble is urging his players to take nothing for granted against a Burnham side sitting rock bottom of the table, with just three wins and three draws from their 26 games.

“We’re looking forward to it but it’s very much a banana skin for us,” said the Maldon boss.

“Everyone will be expecting us to win but anything can happen in football.

“Anyone can beat anyone.

“We saw that in our division on Boxing Day, when Tilbury beat Brentwood.

“There’s no chance of us being complacent, though, and as long as we apply ourselves and show the same levels of effort and commitment we should be fine.”

Kimble admits his side are in buoyant mood, having snatched a late leveller at Scraley Road on Boxing Day.

Billy Hunt gave Swifts the lead but Nathan Korentang coolly converted a late penalty, after Damien Green was adjudged to have fouled Alex Andrews.

“We’re certainly going into today’s game on a high,” said Kimble, who takes his side to Romford on Saturday.

“It felt like a victory, equalising in the manner we did on Boxing Day.”
