MALDON and Tiptree boss Alan Kimble’s side are doing things the ‘hard way’ as they ended Harlow Town’s unbeaten run.

Ten-man Maldon and Tiptree caused a shock as their 1-0 victory on Tuesday night saw them deny Harlow top spot in Ryman League division one north at Park Drive.

And it backed up their 1-1 draw against Barkingside on Saturday which saw Maldon end the game with nine players.

It meant the Jammers had picked up three red cards in four days but importantly for Kimble’s side they picked up points on the way.

Kimble said: “It looks like we are doing things the hard way.

“It was another great result for us – that’s 14 points out of 21 for us and it’s a fantastic achievement.

“Harlow had gone 33 games unbeaten – you know we as a management team can only guide the players, it’s up to them when they cross that white line.

“No-one expected us to get anything from this game and these boys can achieve anything.

“They are starting to gel and have a never-say-die attitude. It’s a good place to be at the moment.”

Looking at the number of sending-offs in the last two games, Kimble said: “I am disappointed with the discipline but I am proud of the display.

“Sometimes the referees aren’t as lenient on the home side on some occasions.

“But we are five games unbeaten at home in all competitions and I want to turn Park Drive into a fortress.”
