TEN-MAN Maldon and Tiptree caused a shock as they inflicted Harlow Town’s first defeat of the season.

The Jammers secured a 1-0 victory which saw them deny Harlow the chance of taking over the top spot in Ryman League division one north at Park Drive.

Tunde Adewunni went close for Maldon early on with a header and a half volley.

But Harlow created chances of their own with James Smith and Shane Stamp going close before a shot from Stamp was well saved by Lewis Moore.

The visitors went close again when a free-kick from David Cowley whipped in to the box but no-one could get a touch and it went just wide.

But on 33 minutes, the Jammers were reduced to ten men when Cliff Akurang was show a red card for an apparent stamp on a Harlow player.

However, it was Maldon who took the lead on 61 minutes when they broke quickly and Alberto Pinto lobbed the keeper.

Moore was then called on to make a great low save as Harlow pushed for an equaliser.

Maldon had to defend brilliantly in the last 15 minutes to keep Harlow out but they managed to hold on to secure the win.
