AFTER the euphoria of Heybridge Swifts’ FA Trophy win at the weekend the stuffing was knocked out of manager Keith Wilson in their return to league action.

Swifts saw themselves safely through to the next round of the Trophy with a 4-1 win at South Park on Saturday.

However, they fell to a 3-2 defeat against visiting Romford on Tuesday night in their Ryman One North encounter.

Wilson said: “We started the game very flat after the euphoria of Saturday.

“We go a goal down but manage to pull it back.

“They go ahead and then get a penalty.

“Danny (Sambridge) won the ball but the decision goes against us.

“These big decisions are going against us, we had a shout for handball at the other end that wasn’t given.

“Things don’t seem to be going our way at the moment.

“We are playing well in patches but can’t seem to string a winning run together.

“I can’t put my finger on it.

“Tuesday’s result has knocked the stuffing out of me, especially after Saturday.

“But I will have to lift myself up and the players and get us ready for this weekend.

“It’s my job to find out what’s going wrong and fix it.”

After Saturday’s Trophy success, Swifts will now travel to the Dripping Pan ground on November 15 for the second qualifying round tie against Ryman Premier side Lewes.
