BRIGHTLINGSEA REGENT had to be content with a share of the spoils from today's scrappy Ryman One North draw at home to Barkingside.

The visitors took the lead inside ten minutes through Matt Gulfer, but Regent were soon level thanks to a well-worked goal from Jake Holman.

The centre-half rushed to the near post to head in Ricky Griggs' corner.

Regent went agonisingly close to grabbing a second.

Phil Kelly had an effort cleared off the line and Russell Malton's follow-up rebounded off a post.

Malton then fired into the side-netting before Matt Cripps saw a header thud back off the bar.

Elsewhere, there were more defeats for HEYBRIDGE SWIFTS and MALDON & TIPTREE.

Shell-shocked Swifts found themselves 4-0 down inside 19 minutes, following an early brace from Kieran Bishop – the first a penalty – and further goals from Charlie Ledula and Finbarr Robins.

Billy Hunt pulled one back midway through the first half and Neil Richmond grabbed a second on 90.

However, it proved scant consolation for Keith Wilson's side.

Maldon went down to a 2-1 defeat at Tilbury.

After falling behind on the half-hour mark, Joel Barnett levelled for Alan Kimble's side.

However, the hosts grabbed what proved their winner just two minutes from time.
