MALDON and Tiptree boss Terry Spillane says this has been one of his best and most enjoyable pre-seasons.

The Jammers manager has been reflecting on a successful summer of training and friendlies, managing to keep the bulk of his squad together and signing all of his transfer targets.

And it has left him revitalised and full of enthusiasm heading into Saturday’s Ryman League division one north curtain-raiser at home to Cheshunt.

“I’ve been in non-league football for a long time but this has been one of my most enjoyable summers,” said Spillane.

“Pre-season has gone well and the new players have gelled and settled in straight away.

“I’ve been really happy with my signings. I’ve got every player I wanted and haven’t missed out on anyone. That’s really pleasing, as is the fact that we’ve kept so many from last season.

“I’m not going to beat the drum, saying we’re going to do this and that.

“We have our goals and targets but then every team will kick-off with their own dreams and aspirations.

“However, what I will say is that I’m quietly confident and we’re as ready as we’re going to be.”
