BURNHAM Ramblers manager Keith Wilson is happy with his pre-season preparations.

The Burnham boss is getting his squad ready for their second season in the Ryman League division one north.

The team returns to training on June 28 and as yet Wilson has not added to his squad but has lost centre-half Marc Gorbell to Ryman premier Witham Town.

Wilson said: “We’re chugging along slowly.

“Mark (Gorbell) has gone to Witham, he was out injured a lot last season and I thought he might want to stay and play regular football with us.

“However, he wants to try and test himself at a higher level.

“On the plus side striker Billy Hunt has decided to stay with us.

“He was offered a good deal by Brentwood but he turned them down because he likes playing his football with us.”

Despite no concrete names being put forward to join the Leslie Field side Wilson is busy at work behind the scenes.

He added: “I have a few irons in the fire.

“The main aim is to get someone up front to help out Billy (Hunt).

“He was having to do a lot of things that aren’t in his game last season and we want to get back to what he does best, scoring goals.

“I am happy with where we are at this stage.”
