SOUTHMINSTER St Leonards are celebrating title success.

The club claimed the Prokit UK Essex Olympian League premier division title last Wednesday with a 1-1 draw Buckhurst Hill.

The champions signed off their season on Saturday with a 1-1 home draw with Newbury Forest after Tom Hine netted their goal that maintained an unbeaten home record.

This was manager Rob Small’s final game in charge of the side as he led them to an historic title.

Club chairman Stuart Portman said: “It’s the highest trophy the club has won since it was formed back in 1898.

“Well done to Rob Small and all the first team squad on their achievements.

“On a sad note Rob will be leaving the club to go to Essex Senior League side Bowers and Pitsea.

“The club would like to say a massive thank you for all his hard work over the last three years and wish him all the best for the future.

“The club have appointed a new first team manager, John Higley.

“He is a very experienced manager at this level of football.

“He has previously managed at Burnham Ramblers and many more Essex Senior League clubs.

“The club look forward to working with John.”
