DANNY Barber’s professional attitude has seen him pick up a top accolade at Heybridge Swifts.

The defender was picked as Jody Brown’s manager’s player-of-the-year at the Ryman League division one north club’s awards’ night on Saturday.

Also picking up a top award was midfielder Reece Morgan who was voted players’-player-of-the-year by his club-mates.

Brown said: “One of the factors in picking Danny (Barber) is that I wanted someone who had been at the club all season.

“Not someone that had come in after Christmas.

“I think that one of the best accolades for him is that in the three to four games he was out injured we tried six to seven players in his position to try and fill the gap.

“Danny is very consistent and it was a difficult to find someone to take his place.

“He is a great example to other players at the club with his approach to the game.

“He is professional in his approach to training and his preparations.”

Brown also had praise for Reece Morgan who picked up the players’-player-of-the-year award.

He said: “Reece is very popular here.

“I think other players got two or three votes and Reece picked up ten.

“He has played 45-50 games for us this season and in my time here out the club his work rate is fantastic.”

Swifts’ goal of the season was given to Dumebi GB Dumaka for the stunning effort he scored in stoppage-time in the home match with Witham Town in April.

And it was a double celebration for Dumaka as he was awarded the Adam Passfield Memorial Shield for young player-of-the-year.

The Supporters’ Player of the year was a close call but Ben Newson took the prize.

Club person of the year was awarded to Chris Daines for his fundraising.

For the under-21s, players’-player-of-the-year was awarded to George Morris while the manager Gary Perkins’ whose choice was Dominic Rowe.
