EVERYTHING has just clicked for Peter Holden’s high-flying Maldon side.

The captain has led Maldon Hockey Club’s men’s first team to the summit of the East League’s division four south east.

Maldon are unbeaten in the league, having won 14 and drawn three of their 17 matches so far.

This run continued last Saturday with a 2-2 draw against visiting East London seconds.

Maldon are now sitting on 45 points at the top, five clear of second-placed Waltham Forest seconds.

Brentwood seconds have a game in hand in third place and are seven points behind.

With five games left, Holden has his eye on the title and promotion.

Holden said: “Everything seems to have just clicked this season.

“We still have two of the top teams to play.

“This weekend we have Brentwood who are in third.

“They have a game in hand on us and if they win that they will be four points behind and snapping at our heels.

“So it really is a crunch game, we don’t want to lose that one.

“It will be a tough match.”
