Burnham Ramblers boss Wilson believes Richmond is leading by example

BURNHAM Ramblers boss Keith Wilson says goal king Neil Richmond is “leading by example”.
The striker netted with a late, close-range header to earn his side maximum points in Saturday’s 1-0 victory at Brentwood Town.
It was his 11th goal of the season and his fifth in seven Ryman League division one north matches, discounting the two he scored in the abandoned game against Redbridge last Tuesday.
“Neil’s on a great run and I’m so pleased for him,” said Wilson.
“He’s really leading by example at the moment and his goals have been invaluable.
“He’ll miss sitters but then some of the goals he scores are straight out of the top drawer.
“Everyone knows what he’s like and I wouldn’t change him for anything.
“It was a huge three points and we’re managing to keep a safe distance from the bottom three,” said Wilson.
“It was a must-win game, as far as I was concerned, and I was delighted to come away with three points and a clean sheet.
“It was a shocking game and not very pleasing on the eye.
“One goal was always going to be enough to settle it.”
The match was the first for Brentwood’s new management duo of Danny Dafter and ex-Gillingham player Adam Flanagan.
Meanwhile, Wilson confirmed that Dan Williams has returned to Leslie Field.
The former Ramblers striker spent time at Great Wakering Rovers last season before joining Southend Manor.
“Dan’s a good addition to the club and will certainly add competition for places in attack,” said Wilson.
“I know a lot about him and he knows a lot about the club, so he should fit in very quickly.
“He’s strong, quick and certainly has an eye for goal.”
Ramblers have also added Stuart Martin to their ranks and the goalkeeper will act as cover to first-choice shot-stopper Louis Godwin Green.
Burnham lost 2-0 at Romford on Wednesday night and travel to Needham Market on Saturday.
