BURNHAM Ramblers boss Keith Wilson believes his side face a must-win game this weekend.

Ramblers were held to a 1-1 draw with local rivals Heybridge Swifts in Ryman league division one north last Saturday and on Tuesday night were drawing 2-2 with Redbridge before the match was abandoned.

An injury to Danny Cossington forced the end of the game with 40 seconds to go and sparked a mass brawl which saw three red cards brandished.

This weekend they travel to struggling Brentwood Town.

Wilson said: “Saturday’s match is a vital game.

“We can not afford to lose at Brentwood.

“We need to make sure that we keep those sides below us at bay.

“Our job will be to go there and not get beat, we need to make sure the gap reamins the same.”

For the match at Brentwood Wilson will be without the injured Danny Cossington, who suffered cartilage and ligament damage at Redbridge, and the suspended Nicky Beales.

Wilson said: “Brentwood have a new manager and are full of confidence.

“We will react to what happened on Tuesday night as a team, we just have to carry on.

“I don’t condone my players throwing punches but it does show the team spirit in going to the aid of one their team-mates.

“I think we have to just turn a bad scenario into a positive one.”
