BARRY Lakin insists there are plenty of points still for Maldon and Tiptree to play for.

Assistant manager Lakin is looking for a Ryman League division one north win against Erith and Belvedere on Saturday.

He wants to see a response after Maldon were held to a 1-1 draw, thanks to an inury-time penalty, at Needham Market last weekend.

Speaking ahead of the match Lakin said: “It is a very winnable game on paper.

“If we play with the same amount of work ethic and concentration as we did last week, we can win the game.”

Lakin also insists despite a run of results that have not gone Maldon’s way, winning only one match in November, the mood in the camp has not been affected.

He said: “The mood among the players is amazing, we’ve got a new squad of players and they have really settled well.

“They enjoy playing together and we are pleased with their work-rate.

“Some results have been disappointing recently, but there are 26 games left and 78 points to play for, so we just need to keep working hard.”

With Erith and Belvedere having lost six games already on their travels this season Maldon will be looking to make the most of their home advantage, and get back to winning ways.
