Familiar face joins Burnham Ramblers

BURNHAM Ramblers have re-signed a familiar face – but parted company with a first-team stalwart.
Centre-half Mark Gorbell is rejoining from Ryman League division one north rivals Maldon and Tiptree.
However, heading through the exit door is goalkeeper Jack Parr, who made his final appearance for Ramblers in last Tuesday’s 3-0 defeat at AFC Sudbury.
Boss Keith Wilson said: “Mark’s a talented, no-nonense centre-half.
“He’s played for the club before and he’s someone I tried to sign in the summer.
“Despite still being quite young, he’s got plenty of Ryman League experience, having played for East Thurrock and Great Wakering.”
Parr is taking a break from football for personal reasons and, while disappointed, Wilson believes he has a more than reliable replacement in Louis Godwin-Green.
“Louis deserves this opportunity,” said Wilson.
“He’s an experienced keeper who’s had to be patient and wait for his chance.”
Ramblers lost 4-1 to visiting Cheshunt in the league on Tuesday night.
Ramblers, who had no fixture last weekend, are now preparing for their FA Trophy preliminary round trip to Ryman League division one south opponents Redhill, on Saturday.
The winners of Saturday’s game face a first qualifying round tie at home to Ryman League premier division strugglers Carshalton Athletic.
Burnham visit Maldon for Robert Dyas League Cup second-round tie on Tuesday night.
