BURNHAM Ramblers hope to get back in action this weekend after switching their match against Basildon United to Leslie Field.
The sides had been due to meet in an Essex Senior League contest at Gardiners Close.
However, due to concerns about the state of their pitch, following the recent cold snap, Basildon suggested playing the game at Burnham. Ramblers were happy to oblige and the move has now been given the green light by the league.
“I’m really pleased because we’re desperate to play,” said boss Keith Wilson.
“Basildon’s pitch is known for not draining very well and they’re due to play at home to London Bari tonight.
“If they manage to get that game on, and the pitch gets ripped up, there’s a strong chance our match wouldn’t go ahead on Saturday.
“It would certainly be in jeopardy and that’s the last thing we want.
“We only need one or two more games to be off and suddenly we’re facing the prospect of playing two or three times a week for the rest of the season. In some ways, we’re victims of our own success because we’re still going strong on different fronts.
“But it would be such a shame if our chances in the league or one of the cups were hampered by a fixture backlog.”
