MALDON and Tiptree continued their winning ways at Ilford.
The visitors ran out 3-0 winners in Ryman League division one north to maintain their position at the top.
But it took until the second half for Maldon to find the back of the net as a dogged Ilford provided stern resistance.
The home side’s defence was finally breached when Maldon were awarded a hotly-contested penalty after the referee adjudged that the ball had struck Nyrydeen Callum’s hand in the area.
Chris Bryan then made no mistake from the spot to give the visitors the lead on 55 minutes.
It got worse for Ilford 12 minutes later when Jamie Guy headed home to double the lead.
Maldon wrapped the match up with 12 minutes to go when Dave Wareham fired home.
