LUKE Callander slotted home a dramatic late winner as ten-man Heybridge Swifts shocked high-flying neighbours Maldon and Tiptree.

The visitors went into today’s match 15 points clear at the top of Ryman One North and protecting a proud unbeaten record, from their opening 18 games.

However, that statistic was left in tatters as Callander settled a tense, thrilling derby 13 minutes from time at Scraley Road.

The striker latched onto a long ball forward, nudged it wide of goalkeeper Joe Wright and neatly fired home from an angle to clock up his 15th Ryman League goal.

It was the pivotal moment in a hard-fought contest, during which both sides had chances and Swifts defender Chris Moore was red-carded for a foul on Ben Bradbury.
