TERRY Spillane says his title-chasing Maldon & Tiptree team are playing “unbelievable and breathtaking” football.

And he believes the Ryman One North leaders sent out a clear message to the rest of the league after thrashing Cheshunt 6-1 on Saturday.

It leaves them ten points clear at the summit, still unbeaten with 13 wins out of 15 games and still with a 100 per cent winning record at Park Drive.

To put the icing on the cake, the sixth strike brought up their half-century of Ryman League goals.

“It’s beyond our wildest dreams,” said Spillane.

“We’ve got a tight-knit squad and everyone has knuckled down and done everything I’ve asked of them.

“It could and should have been more than six and some of the football we played was unbelievable and breathtaking. Hopefully it sends out a message to the rest of the league.”

Spillane’s side now head to Chatham on Saturday before another home game against Brentwood next Tuesday.

Maldon’s fourth round tie in the Essex Senior Cup against Grays Athletic on Tuesday night was postponed because of a waterlogged Park Drive pitch.
