HEYBRIDGE Swifts goal king Luke Callander has rejected a seven-day approach from Grays Athletic.
And far from losing his best players, boss Mark Hawkes expects to have two new faces in his squad for Saturday’s home date with Chatham.
Callander is the man of the moment at high-flying Swifts, having scored again in Saturday’s 5-0 demolition of Ware.
He now has 13 goals and is leading the way at the top of the Ryman One North goal charts, having scored one more than Potters Bar’s James Gershfield and three more than Maldon and Tiptree’s Jamie Guy.
“Witham put a seven-day approach in about a month ago and another came in from Grays last Tuesday,” said Hawkes.
“We’ve had a chat about it but he’s not going anywhere.
“If we were second from bottom, rather than second from top, it might be different.”
