MALDON and Tiptree have received enquiries from Conference clubs about the availability of star striker Jamie Guy.

The former Colchester United front man has been a big success during his time at Park Drive and grabbed two more goals in Saturday’s 4-0 victory against Wroxham.

It took his tally for the season to an impressive 14 goals.

Guy’s success, having battled back to fitness after a career-threatening injury, has led to interest from elsewhere.

Two Conference sides have been in touch, with a view to luring him away from the Ryman One North leaders.

However, nothing has yet materialised in terms of bids.

“Jamie has a desire to play at a higher level again,” said Maldon assistant boss Jody Brown. “But he’s under contract here for the rest of the season and we wouldn’t want to let him go for nothing. If anything were to happen, it would have to benefit all parties.

“It doesn’t surprise me that clubs have been in touch and if he keeps scoring goals, I’m sure more will follow."

Maldon and Tiptree are away to Tilbury on Saturday and Romford next Wednesday.
