COLCHESTER Swimming Club finished the season in style at Swim England’s biggest domestic swimming event of the year, in Sheffield.

The squad produced a number of high-quality performances, winning three silver medals in the extremely competitive National Summer Meet, at Ponds Forge.

Colchester SC head coach Michelle Young said: “To experience swimming at a national level competition is a massive learning curve for our younger swimmers and they all did the club proud.

"I'm delighted that our season has finished on a high with some fantastic individual performances that are just reward for the early starts and the hours of training that these swimmers have put in."

There were several highlights on day one, with Sam Whearty claiming 15th place in the 100 metres freestyle MC and Alfie Francis, who was competing in his first national event, finishing as the fastest 13-year-old and claiming 13th place overall.

Naythan Aung and Livi Norman, who had competed at this year’s British Summer Championships the week before, both made the finals of their events.

Aung finished tenth in the 100m breaststroke and recorded a new personal best (PB) of 26.27 seconds to finish ninth in the 50m freestyle and Livi finished ninth in the 400m Individual Medley, with a season's best time.
