WIVENHOE TOWN have confirmed the arrival of several new signings.

Manager Chris Hudson has wasted no time in bringing fresh blood to his Thurlow Nunn League side.

The Dragons are currently bottom of the premier division but produced a heartening performance in Saturday's 2-1 defeat at home to Great Yarmouth Town.

Goalkeeper Dan Beeson made his debut in that game, having previously been with Brightlingsea Regent and more recently Holland FC.

Former Colchester United scholar Ross Debrick also made his debut against the Bloaters while Kyan Gulliver played his first game in the Dragons' recent 3-1 defeat at Ely City.

The midfielder or defender has plenty of experience, having played for the likes of Tilbury, Stansted, Heybridge Swifts, Maldon and Tiptree and Braintree Town.

Midfielder Jamie Hudson produced an energetic performance after coming on as a first-half substitute against Yarmouth.

His former clubs include Witham Town and Halstead Town, while attacking midfielder Luke Barnard - previously with FC Clacton and Harwich and Parkeston - also made his debut in Hudson's first game against Ely.

Wivenhoe's other new signing is striker Tyrone Scarlett, who has played for clubs across Essex including Romford, Tilbury and Grays.

He scored on his debut at Ely.

The Dragons return to action at Wroxham on Saturday before playing their final game before Christmas at home to Saffron Walden Town on December 23.

Hudson recently added Dave Childs to his coaching team as assistant manager, having previously been in charge of Essex and Suffolk Border League first division side Holland FC Reserves.

Jason Savage, meanwhile, has stepped down as first-team coach.

He joined the set-up in the summer, having managed the club's reserves for the previous three seasons.

He and goalkeeping coach Ian Smith took over the running of the first team during a challenging interim period following Mo Osman's resignation.

Savage will remain at the club as a volunteer.

Chairman Osman said: "I can't thank Jason and Ian enough for all their help during a really difficult time for the team. I'm delighted both are staying at the club."
