THE Essex and Suffolk Border League side progressed to the FA Inter-League Cup quarter-finals with an outstanding 5-0 victory over previous winners Guernsey, at the Crops Coggeshall.

This result will go down as one of the best Border League performances in the national competition since its conception, in 2004.

The home side made their visitors pay dearly after their long journey by racing into a 4-0 first-half lead with some clinical finishing.

Sam Cripps brilliantly volleyed home a pinpoint Andy Fennell cross after ten minutes.

And Kane Dobrowski doubled the lead ten minutes later when he disposed a Guernsey defender and shot home past the advancing keeper.

The Border League side continued to press and they added a third on the half hour when the impressive Rigers Kabashi curled a fantastic shot into the roof of the net.

And two minutes before the break, Cripps hit a great left-foot volley into the roof of the net to after more good work from Andy Fennell, who had tormented the Guernsey defence throughout.

The Border League side maintained full control in the second half and completed their scoring in the 68th minute when Kabashi seized on a poor goal kick and rounded a defender and the keeper to fire home.

The quarter-finak draw is due to take place at FA headquarters on Friday, December 15.
