WRITTLE 9

COLCHESTER TOWN 1

Eastern Region Women's League premier division

COLCHESTER Town Ladies suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of prolific Writtle.

Playing away from home and against a side that had only dropped two points this season, Town were up against it.

Writtle put early pressure on the Colchester goal creating some good chances and only a fine save from a home free-kick by Kimberley Lynch kept the scores even.

But the pressure soon took its toll as on 12 minutes, the deadlock was broken.

Things then progressed with Writtle playing some good passing football and a penalty was awarded and converted to make it 2-0.

It was not long before the score line increased to 3-0, as Town went in trailing at half-time.

Writtle were playing some good attacking football and kept Colchester attacks to a minimum, with the visitors having to wait 55 minutes before registering their first shot.

Lauren Bourne's good strike was tipped over the bar by the home keeper but then the floodgates opened, with the hosts taking a nine-goal lead.

Town did grab a consolation goal before the end through Millie Wilding, who placed a free-kick over the wall and past the keeper after Poppy Gardner had been fouled.

Town's under-14s beat Braintree Town 4-3 at home with Yasmine Drake grabbing a last-minute winner and further goals coming from Tori Adams (2) and Ida Webb.

The under-12s lost both their games, following a 12-3 loss against Norwich-based side Red Rose in a friendly despite goals from Ruby Greenleaf (2) and Akeila Robinson and a 5-1 league home defeat against C & K Basildon, where Molly Burch was on target.

Town's under-11s recovered from a 1-0 half-time deficit to beat Little Oakley 4-1, thanks to Amelie Brown's brace and further goals from Faiza Kafala and Lillie Graves.
