WIVENHOE Town boss Mo Osman wants his players to "keep their feet on the ground" after picking up their first win of the season.

The Dragons celebrated a 2-1 win at Fakenham Town, in the Thurlow Nunn League premier division on Saturday.

Now Osman is hoping his side can build on their opening victory of the campaign when they face Brantham Athletic tonight (kick-off 7.45pm).

Osman said: “We're trying not to get too carried away.

“It's important that we keep our feet on the ground.

“It's great when you win games and that's what you want to do.

“Fakenham were bottom of the league but I told the players they have had some difficult fixtures.

“It was important to pick up the win and hopefully we can build on it.

“The league could be tight this season so it could prove an important three points.”

Wivenhoe announced three new signings just hours before the victory.

Garry Burdett has joined the club ,having captained Hadleigh United last season, while former Brantham and Stanway Rovers striker Callum Griffiths has also joined the Dragons.

Lewis Blanchett, who was recently with FC Clacton, completed the trio of new arrivals.

And Blanchett, who is now into his fourth spell with the club, got on the scoresheet in his first appearance back with Wivenhoe.

Blanchett found the back of the net, along with Matthew Eve, to see off Fakenham.

And Osman was delighted to bring some fresh faces to the GMP Plant Hire Stadium.

The Dragons chief added: “Lewis has played for us before and he got on the scoresheet against Fakenham.

“We lacked match-winners so it was important to bring in some new players.

“Lewis is a provider and a goalscorer himself and he showed that on Saturday.

“He made the first goal and scored the second so it was a good first game back for him.

“Garry captained Hadleigh last year so he will add experience and leadership to our squad.

“Callum will add extra firepower.”
