BILLY Hunt says he is looking forward to joining the Ryman League division north title race after leaving Stanway Rovers to join Brightlingsea Regent.

Having scored 36 goals in 50 appearances for Rovers in the Thurlow Nunn League premier division, Hunt said he is looking forward to testing himself back at the higher level as he looks to help boost Regent’s promotion push.

Hunt, who has previously played in the Ryman League with Heybridge Swifts and also been at National League South level with Chelmsford City, said: “I’m pleased to be joining Brightlingsea; it’s not often that you get the chance to be in a title-chasing side and I can’t wait to get going. Hopefully I can add something to the team.”

Regent boss James Webster was pleased to add another proven goal-scorer to his squad.

He said: “I’m very pleased Billy has decided to join us.

“He’s a player I have admired for a long time; he has all the skills and attributes we look for in our attacking players.

“Billy has an excellent left foot, which will also add balance to our front line.

“He comes to us at the business end of the season and hopefully he will score some important goals for us in the run-in.”

Meanwhile, Brightlingsea have said Mekhi McKenzie has left them to join AFC Sudbury.
