Competing in the under-13s 3km race, he finished strongly in third place in ten minutes and 47 seconds.

The under-15 boys' 4km race saw Ermeas Afewerki, in his first championship race, give a good account of himself, finishing 14th in 14m 12s.

Track specialist Thomas Palmer worked hard to finish 18th in 14m 39s.

In the under-13 3km girls' race, Clacton's Mazy King showed her determination to finish in 42nd, in 14m 12s.

She was followed by the hard-working Emily White, who was 49th in 15m 17s.
