Colchester's Dominic King suffered heartbreak at the Rio Olympics after being disqualified from the Men's 50km Race Walk.

King was on track to secure a new personal best time when he was disqualified just before the midway point in the race, after receiving three "bent knee" warnings from the race judges.

Competitors must straighten their supporting leg as soon as it touches the ground and keep it straight until it has passed under their body, as part of the rules of race walking.

It is cruel luck on King, who has worked so hard to return for a second Olympics and represent Team GB having competed at London 2012.

The race was won by Slovakian world champion Matej Toth, with London 2012 gold medallist Jared Tallent of Australia securing silver and Japan's Hirooki Arai bronze.
