A TRIO of Colchester-based Hi-Tension Trampoline Club members competed at this year's NDP Trampoline, Tumbling and Double-Mini Trampoline National Finals.

Gymnasts from all over the United Kingdom competed in all three disciplines at the Telford International Centre, in Shropshire.

The top-eight gymnasts in each level and age group who qualified at the NDP Regional Team Finals in Birmingham in May were eligible to compete.

Willow Talbot performed an excellent first compulsory routine in the NDP 1 women’s age nine to ten year old category.

That put her in third place, with a score of 26.4 but she placed sixth with her second compulsory routine.

That meant that she achieved an overall score of 52.5 and placed joint fourth overall, just 0.5 behind the bronze medallist.

Amber Bradley also performed a solid first compulsory routine, in the NDP 4 women’s 11-12 category.

That placed her third after the first round of competition, with a score of 25.8.

But her score of 22.4 in the second compulsory routine meant that she was unable to hold onto third, in a very tight competition.

She eventually placed eighth overall, with a total score of 48.2.

In the NDP 5 women’s 15+ category, Hannah Hodgkinson started her first routine well.

But an unfortunate error at the end pushed her down to seventh place in that round with a score of 19.1.

She was in fifth place in the second round with a total score of 27.1.

Competitors at Level 5 and above may compete a voluntary routine of their own choosing at the NDP National Finals, with the difficulty score counting towards the overall score.

But despite a solid second routine with a difficulty score of 5.6, Hodgkinson had to be content with an overall placing of seventh, with a total score of 46.2.

The new NDP competition season will begin with the first regional qualification event on September 25.
