MICK Cain and Amanda Dodd’s success in lifting the Ridley League’s individual darts trophies has encouraged officials to dream that the competition can widen its borders again.

The strength of Braintree, Witham and Dunmow clubs over the years encouraged the league to run two geographical sections a few years ago.

It was a short-lived experiment, but with Cain and Dodd spearheading a new influx of playing talent from beyond the Chelmsford borders, the committee hope this year’s annual meeting may attract other clubs ready to try their luck.

The meeting will be at the Chequers, Felsted, on Tuesday, August 16, at 8pm. Further details are available from the league’s fixtures secretary John Steele on 01245 917930.

Existing clubs are reminded that proposed rule changes for next season should reach league secretary Caroline Kochan at 1 Entrance Lodge, Coptfold Hall Farm, Writtle Road, Margaretting, CM4 0EJ by August 2.
