BRIGHTLINGSEA REGENT will hope to take their Ryman League form into the Alan Turvey Trophy tonight.

The R’s are unbeaten in four division north matches and won 3-0 at home to Soham Town Rangers on Saturday.

However, their form in the knockout competitions has been disappointing and they are out of both the FA Cup and FA Trophy.

Tonight they face a trip to Needham Market in the second round of the Robert Dyas-sponsored Alan Turvey Trophy.

“There’s still more to come from us but we’re slowly getting nearer to where we want to get,” said Regent assistant boss Tom Rothery.

“It was certainly a good 3-0 win on Saturday.

“We scored three first-half goals and produced a decent attacking display.

“The second half was a more even affair and rather scrappy at times, but there were still plenty of positives.”

Saturday’s win saw Brightlingsea move up to 15th.

They also have the added bonus of games in hand on nine of the teams above them.

HEYBRIDGE SWIFTS and MALDON & TIPTREE are both in Ryman League action.

Jody Brown’s Swifts have a home date with AFC Sudbury, while the Jammers visit Thurrock.
