WIVENHOE TOWN notched their eighth win in nine games to maintain their lead at the top of the table.

The Dragons are four points clear in Thurlow Nunn League division one after winning 2-0 at home to Downham.

Adam Hampson and Reece Keating scored their goals.

Wivenhoe are one of only two teams in the league to still be unbeaten – the other is premier division leaders Norwich United.

Elsewhere, FC CLACTON came from behind to sink premier division basement boys Fakenham Town 3-1.

Trailing at the break to a penalty, conceded by goalkeeper Joe Fowler, the Seasiders turned it around thanks to goals from Aaron Condon (penalty), Chris Ribchester and Kevin Coyle.

STANWAY ROVERS lost 3-1 at Haverhill Rovers.

Two-down at the break following a poor first-half display, Jack Cawley gave them hope but Jack Smith was then red-carded just before Haverhill’s third.

BRANTHAM ATHLETIC lost 3-1 at Walsham-le-Willows, with their consolation goal scored by Matt Travis.

It was a blank weekend for division one pair HALSTEAD TOWN and BRAINTREEE TOWN RESERVES.
