GRAHAM Adye tore up his handicap certificate to record the outstanding score in Playgolf Colchester’s club championships.

Adye went into the division three event with a 22 handicap.

But he cut it by an amazing 12 shots, after winning with an unbelievable nett 58 and shot gross 80.

His score could be mistaken for a single figure golfer’s card, with ten pars and a birdie on the par-five second.

Adye finished nine shots ahead of runner-up David Gooding (27), who carded a great three-under nett 67.

Mark Turner (28) was third on countback from Gareth Lee (23), after both players carded nett 69.

In-form Martin Kilbey (12) shot a gross 79 (nett 67) to win division one, as a large field battled it out for qualifying cards and order of merit points.

Kilbey recorded six pars and backed them up with a pair of birdies, earning him a shot handicap cut to 11 next time out.

Tom Earl (9) was runner-up with gross 77 (nett 68), after shooting eight pars and three solid birdies.

Tom English (8) matched the Competition Scratch Score (CSS) with his gross 77 (nett 69), carding a consistent 12 pars.

In division two, Scott Wyatt (18) shot a nett 64, to earn a further shot handicap cut to 17 next time out.

His outstanding round was made of nine pars, quite a feat for an 18-handicapper and capped by a birdie on the par-three 16th.

Stephen Allen (15) also easily beat his handicap to deservedly earn a shot handicap cut, after shooting six pars and a brace of birdies for nett 65.

Tyler Garrett was third with a four under par nett 66, earning a shot handicap cut for his card of five pars and back-to-back birdies.

Michael Hersant (19) also cut his handicap with his nett 67.
