IT looks increasingly like the Globe will win the Ridley League title. Chequers B’s defeat at City FC leaves the leaders 12 points clear with a match in hand.
Globe had the look of champs against Little Waltham, who had to wait till the last pairs for their solitary darts point, apart from the not-unexpected success by Jenny Kochan and Lou Morton that dented the Globe’s women’s record.
CCFC, with Des Vickers among the absentees, were elated to upset Chequers B, especially after the visitors reeled off six of the first seven games, with Steve O’Neil getting a 180.
But victory in a long and tense women’s match – and a rare dominoes whitewash – enabled City to turn the tables.
Results: CCFC 8, Chequers B 7 (singles/pairs 1-6, mixed 0-1, women 1-0, dominoes 6-0); Chequers A v Black Bull postponed; Compasses 10, Bird in Hand 5 (6-1, 1-0, 1-0, 2-4); Cricketers 3, St Anne’s Castle 12 (1-6, 0-1, 0-1, 2-4); Lt Waltham SC 4, Globe 11 (1-6, 0-1, 1-0, 2-4).
