DEPARTING FC Clacton boss Glenn Eldridge signed off on a winning note as the Seasiders beat Brantham Athletic 3-0 tonight.

The match was Eldridge’s last in the hot-seat, having been relieved of his duties on Monday night.

He was given the opportunity to take charge for one last game and his Clacton players did him proud, making an emphatic start at the Rush Green Bowl.

Jake Plane netted twice – once a deft header from Aaron Condon’s perfectly-weighted cross and once after connecting with a long ball forward, out-muscling the last defender and slotting past Brantham’s former Clacton keeper, Joe Fowler.

Plane then had a major say in Clacton’s third goal, whipping in a free-kick from the left that was headed in by Tom Holdstock.

The hosts were reduced to ten men in the closing stages of the first half, when centre-half Steve Downes was red-carded for kicking out at Danny Garad.

Eldridge is being replaced as Seasiders manager by David Coyle.
