CHELMSFORD Cricket Club retained the Warsop T20 title with wins over Woodham Mortimer and Rayleigh on finals day at Chelmer Park.

Some efficient cricket brought about two fairly comfortable wins.

Miles Clark and Gary Chidley set up the semi-final win against Woodham Mortimer with a 110-run partnership in a huge total of 213 for five.

Mortimer were bowled out for 112 to give Chelmsford a 101-run win and a final against Rayleigh, who  had a fairly comfortable seven-wicket win against Terling in the other semi-final.

That set up a repeat of last year’s final and of the first match of the campaign in which Chelmsford had an exciting one-run win.

Good fielding and bowling particularly from T20 phenomenon Tom Halsey (3-12) restricted Rayleigh to 115 in the final.  The innings also featured a stunning catch from Jack Moss.

That total was passed fairly comfortably with Chidley again playing well, his second 50 of the day gained him the player of the day accolade as Chelmsford replied with 116-2 to win by eight wickets.
The Sunday second team pulled off an exciting win at East Hanningfield.

Useful runs from Luke Smith (39), Matt Davis (37) and David Goddard (34no) provided the backbone of Chelmsford’s 162 for six.

East Hanningfield seemed to be cruising to victory at 115 for two but collapsed to 154 all out, with Callum Rudd picked up three wickets and Davis, Craig Thompson and Tom Arnold taking two apiece.
