Colchester United will not appeal against Magnus Okuonghae’s red card against Leyton Orient.
The U's skipper will sit out the club’s next four matches, after he was also sent off in the U's Capital One Cup tie at Charlton Athletic last month.
Okuonghae, who was sent off for serious foul play at Orient, will now miss Colchester's game against Sheffield United tomorrow night, along with their forthcoming League One matches against Bradford City, Crewe Alexandra and Preston North End.
Colchester manager Tony Humes said: “It looked a bit harsh but it was a challenge he (Magnus) didn’t have to make and that goes for the bookings that George Moncur and Ben Gordon had.
“We went to ground when we didn’t need to and players are asking for trouble when they do that.
“But I don’t think he (Magnus) left the ground by much and there was no malice in it.
“It wasn’t two-footed but it’s hard to overturn these decisions.”
