Mixed fortunes for Buchan

DANNY Buchan had mixed fortunes at Cadwell Park.

The Burnham rider, competing for MSS Bathams Kawasaki at the latest round of the British Superbike Championship, failed to finish the second race.

Team-mate Michael Rutter and Buchan had a good qualifying session for the Colchester-based operation.

Both riders had a good session and made it through to qualifying three.

Rutter secured tenth in one minute 35.8 seconds, while Buchan ended up sixth in 1m 28.1s.

It is the first time this season that both riders have made it into the top ten during qualifying.

Both riders got off to a good start, for the 18-lap race.

Buchan had the best race, moving up two places to fourth by the chequered flag.

But Rutter dropped a place to 11th by the end.

Race two saw Buchan start from eighth while Rutter started 12th.

Disaster struck with Buchan on lap two as he lost the front of the bike and crashed out.

But Rutter had a better race over the 18 laps, rising up to tenth and a top-ten finish.

Buchan said: “The first race was fantastic; we have been testing a lot and I feel much more comfortable on the Superbike.

“Falling off in the second race was disappointing but I was up at the front again and now I can’t wait for Donington Park.”
