Burnham Ramblers boss Wilson is hoping for a bumper turnout against Barnet
3:30pm Thursday 12th July 2012 in Sport
BURNHAM Ramblers boss Keith Wilson is hoping for a bumper turn-out when his side kick-start their pre-season campaign against Barnet.
The League Two club are bringing a strong squad to Leslie Field for Saturday’s friendly (kick-off 3pm).
The Bees are managed by new head coach Mark Robson, who spent last season coaching Ramblers’ under-17s.
And Wilson is expecting a tough but enjoyable afternoon as his side step up their preparations for the new Essex Senior League campaign.
“We’re looking forward to it and hopefully people will enjoy it on and off the pitch, because it’s one to savour,” he said.
“Barnet will bring a few supporters and there should be a fair bit of interest locally.
“Hopefully we can do the business and impress on the pitch.
“We know it will be tough but I’m sure we can give them a game. The boys have been working hard in training and they’re ready for their first friendly.
“Nothing compares to actually playing in terms of getting match fit.”
Wilson could have a couple of new faces in his squad for Saturday’s game, as he is in talks with a centre-half, a midfielder and a striker.
But two players will be missing in Ashley John-Baptiste, who is taking time out of football for personal reasons, and Martyn Llewellyn, who is training with Tilbury.
