Wilson wants to see hunger in his Ramblers side

KEITH Wilson is building a Burnham Ramblers team that is hungry for success.

The Ramblers manager is pleased with how his squad is shaping up ahead of the start of the Essex Senior League season.

Wilson, who is in his first managerial role after taking the helm following the departure of Garry Kimble at the end of last year, has had to recraft the squad this summer, but he is happy with what he has seen during their pre-season games so far.

Ramblers were due to face Blue Square South side Bishop’s Stortford last night, before heading to Redbridge of the Ryman League division one north tomorrow and a home game against Essex Olympian League division one side Leigh Ramblers on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).

The pre-season then concludes with a home game against Wilson’s former club, Great Wakering Rovers, on Tuesday.

Wilson said: “We have got a young side here, but they are players who have played at Essex Senior League level and higher.

“The thing that really pleases me, though, is that they are all hungry for success and 110 per cent committed.

“We had a great training session the other day when everyone got together afterwards and it was great to get some team bonding done.

“I have to say, the team spirit is excellent.

“It was there last year, but I felt it fell away a bit towards the end.

“We’re not saying we will win the league, but I will definitely say that anyone would be foolish to write us off.”
