ESSEX County Cricket Club star Alastair Cook, who grew up in Wickham Bishops and played for Maldon Cricket Club, has been named both Test and One-Day captain for England’s forthcoming tour of Bangladesh.
He replaces Andrew Strauss, who is taking a rest after England’s drawn Test series in South Africa.
Cook, who will lead England in two Tests and three One-Day internationals, has been mooted as a future England captain for many years and he led his country at under-19 level.
