MALDON Cricket Club recently awarded the Colt-of-the-Month for May to Chris Harris.
Plume schoolboy Harris is captaining the under-15s this season and despite the labours of captaincy has been in excellent form with the bat and ball.
The colts section as a whole has really blossomed over the past couple of years and looks in very good shape going forward.
There are currently two league teams being run at under-13s, as well as a friendly team.
The under-11s are also growing by the week and the under-nines are beginning their development.
The under-13 girls are also in a strong position and just lack opponents to play.
All in all, there are now 15 qualified coaches who regularly volunteer their time to coach the club’s players of the future.
It is particularly pleasing for the Maldon members to see youngsters such as Jack Riley and Mark Foster at the forefront of planning and executing coaching sessions.
During Maldon Cricket week, July 20-24, there is an attractive fixture on the Tuesday when Maldon under-19s entertain Bedfordshire under-16s at Drapers Farm.
