SNOOKER ace Ali Carter is through to the quarter-finals of the 888.com World Snooker Championships after a convincing win over 2005 champion Shaun Murphy.
Carter, 28, who recently moved to Chelmsford from Tiptree, breezed past Murphy at The Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, on Saturday April 26 taking the match 13-4, booking himself a place in the last eight against Peter Ebdon.
He held a 12-4 lead over the Irishman going into the final session and took less than half an hour to seal his victory.
Speaking ahead of the match against Ebdon, who won the championship in 2002 and has appeared in three finals, Carter explained he was "feeling good."
"I'm looking forward to it," he said.
"It's going to be a tough match but it's nice to be in another quarter final."
His win on Saturday was described afterwards as his best yet but he says there is still more to come.
He added: "I wouldn't say it was my best win but it was a solid performance.
"I'm obviously pleased with the way I've played so far but there's plenty more to come and I would like to go further."
Carter, who is ranked 11 in the world, beat former champion Stephen Hendry at last year's championships to reach the quarter-final stages.
His match against Peter Ebdon is due to get underway tomorrow (Tuesday).
