Sailing club to host open day

5:04pm Tuesday 22nd April 2008

On June 1 and 15 Marconi Sailing Club will be hosting open days.

These are busy club days with both dinghy and cruiser racing and sail training taking place so, weather permitting, the club will be a hive of activity.

The purpose of these open days is to allow visitors access to the club and its facilities in order to allow them to see what goes on. The galley will be open, as will the bar - and the sea wall makes a great spot to enjoy a beverage, while watching the antics of those that have gone afloat.

In order to allow visitors to get afloat, the club has a Laser Stratos dinghy and Hobie 21 catermeran available with suitable helms and crew - no sailing experience is necessary. Suitably experienced windsurfers will also have the opportunity to try out the challenging waters Should you wish to try a sail it is best to book in advance - contact David Bowman on 01245 466511.

The club can be found in the village of Steeple at the end of Stansgate Road. Heading towards Bradwell, take the first left after the Star Public House as you leave the village, follow the small road, keep going past the private road sign and you will find the club just before you get to the river Blackwater.

More details regarding the club its location and activates can be found at www.
