MALDON AND TIPTREE produced a superb team performance to run out 3-0 winners at home to AFC Hornchurch.

Adam Mills put them in front just after the half-hour mark and Gavin Greenfield doubled the Jammers’ advantage.

Mills then put the cherry on the cake with a third goal four minutes from time.

The victory was a very welcome one, after back-to-back defeats, and Maldon are now eighth in Ryman League division north, two points behind fifth-placed Bowers and Pitsea.

Elsewhere, BRIGHTLINGSEA REGENT suffered their second defeat of the week as they lost 3-2 in a topsy-turvy encounter at home to in-form Tilbury.

Emiel Aiken hooked the visitors into an early lead but Aaron Condon restored parity from the penalty spot midway through the first half.

Condon then put Regent ahead with a brilliant free-kick that sailed across goal and into the top-left corner.

It took his goal tally for the season to ten, including nine in the last eight matches.

However, the hosts lost their momentum in the second half and Kurt Smith netted from the penalty spot, after an alleged foul by Adam Reakes.

Dwade James then pounced four minutes from time to secure all three points for the Dockers.

Regent are back at North Road on Tuesday night, when they entertain Haringey Borough.

There were defeats for both HEYBRIDGE SWIFTS and WITHAM TOWN.

Swifts’ run of three games unbeaten came to an end as they lost 3-0 at Dereham Town.

Joe Gatting scored twice for the Norfolk side.

He gave them a fifth-minute lead and then netted again in the latter stages, sandwiching a second goal on the stroke of half-time from Ryan Crisp.

Mid-table Witham suffered another defeat as they went down 2-0 at fourth-placed Cheshunt.

Tom Bruno’s first-half penalty put them on the back foot and Adam Flint’s men quickly fell further behind when Dave Kendall scored.

Both sides finished with ten men.

Witham’s Michael Osei was given his marching orders just before the first goal, with Joe Kizzi seeing red for Cheshunt.
