AS the season approaches its conclusion, Tiptree Jobserve Bowls Club has been enjoying success in area competitions and members who reached the climax of the club’s internal competitions played their last matches during finals weekend.

For the third time in four seasons, Tiptree Jobserve won the prestigious Widdop Cup against Castle Hedingham in the final at Quendon.

This follows on from the club winning the Central Midweek Knockout competition for the first time since competing under the Jobserve banner.

Nine club finals were then played, with Roy Davidson, who also also captained the Widdop Cup team winning three titles.

RESULTS: Club finals: Men’s Pairs: John Baldwin & David Harrington beat Terry King & Dennis Poole 22-17;

Over 65’s: Roy Davidson beat Seamus Montgomery 21-11;

Men’s Handicap: Roy Davidson beat John Baldwin 22-7;

Peter Horlock Trophy: Paula Montgomery, Seamus Montgomery, and Mary Smith beat Jeff Spencer, David Harrington, and John Clark 24-16;

Ladies Pairs: Doreen Cottee & Jan Elliott beat Rosemary Cousins & Judy Bohannon 23-11;

Ladies Championship: Judy Bohannon beat Steph Heard 21-18;

Men’s Championship: Roy Davidson beat John Daniells 21-11;

Ladies Handicap: June Collard beat Edna Woods 21-10;

Two Woods: John Wade beat Doreen Cottee 15-14.
