JACK Garnett is the new Club Champion of Five Lakes Golf Club.

The championship is played over 36 holes on both the Links and Lakes courses, with some low scoring on the opening day on the Links course.

Dave Parkins (19) hit a nett 70 and Tom Arrowsmith (7) and Billy Coe (6) bot scored nett 69s, but Ben Jewell's (13) nett 66 putting him in great position for the final 18 holes on the championship Lakes course.

The Lakes course showed it's teeth for the second 18 holes with the Course Standard Scratch moving up to 74 from the par 72 as the wind picked up through the day.

Derek Monaghan (16) had a nett 75, Jewell compounded his earlier score with nett 74, along with a previous club champion Mark Snoad (6) on the same score.

However, a nett 72 for Dave Rogers (5) and a nett 71 from Garnett (3) proved to be conclusive to sort out the final placings.

The gross score Club Champion over the two days was Garnett after rounds of 76 and 74 gave him a winning total of 150.

Second was Dave Rogers with 79 and 77 for 156 and third place went to Mark Soad with 78 and 80 for 158.

The Handicap club champion is Jewell with nett scores of 66 and 71 for 137.

Second was Neil Shinwell (9) with 71 and 73 for 144 and third was Derek Monaghan (16) with nett scores of 74 and 72 for 146.
