PETER Finch was the winner of the Alan Stewart Memorial Salver at Burnham on Crouch Croquet Club.
Seven members turned out on a warm morning to compete in a Red House singles tournament and after four games, there were two clear leaders.
In the end, the final result was decided on penalties, with defending title holder Vanessa Bell beaten convincingly into second place by Finch, with a score of five points to one.
Thanks go to George Winder for organising the competition.
