FORRESTER Park hosted the Golf Team Challenge, featuring Channels, The Warren, Stock Brook Manor, Stableford Abbotts and Gosfield Lake.

All the teams competed in a stableford team competition for senior golfers.

Forrester Park took full advantage of home conditions to accumulate 238 points and run out winners by a margin of 13 points from The Warren, with Stock Brook Manor in third with 222.

The May Bank Holiday mixed competition was a combined stableford, which was won by Graham and Judy Podd with 66 points.

Val Cummins and Carl Scarborough were second with 60 points.

Carol Yore, Mike Manning, Susan Wilson and Carl Scarborough won nearest the pin prizes.

The vets played their June medal in weather more like November and this was reflected in the scores recorded.

Bryan Bowring won the gold division with nett 71, from David Ayres (nett 72) and Chris Collins (nett 75).

The silver division was won by Reg Brunt with nett 70 from Mike Manning (nett 71) and Dave Powell (nett 75).

Harry Whiteman won the bronze division with nett 76, with Dave Reynolds second with nett 78, beating Alan Moss on countback.

In contrast, the men’s Sunday medal had benign conditions and consequently much better scores.

The gold division was won by Chris Bowring, with nett 65, with Peter Andrews second with nett 67.

Peter Waknell won the silver division with nett 68, with Jeff Chilner second with nett 69.

In the bronze division, Eric Barker was the winner with nett 67 and Ted Layton scored nett 71 to take second place.
